Freshgreen was established in 2006 following my completion of a PhD in Fine Art from the University of Plymouth. Having originally studied sculpture at Norwich School of Art in the early 90's, I combine 3 dimensional skills with my expertise as a community artist and with a love of plants and landscapes.
The aim of Freshgreen is to offer a flexible service so that you can choose how much of my time and input you require, dependent on your budget.
In 2004 I created a garden with people living with dementia at a residential home in Poole Dorset called Elder Flowers, which won a Southern England in Bloom award.
Garden design is akin to sculpting the landscape, creating interesting and emotive shapes and spaces with earth, hard lanscaping materials and plants. However, in my opinion what sets a well designed garden apart from a piece of art work is its added functionality. A garden must suit the needs and practical requirements of its inhabitants, be they the people, their pets or the wildlife that live there.
Having spent a great deal of time working as a creative project facilitator with young people in school and neighbourhood settings, older people living with dementia, and local residents in Exeter, I have learnt to listen carefully to people's individual wishes. I take the time to find out who you are and to draw out your
own creative ideas and personal requirements, which I can then turn into a unique garden
specifically tailored to you.
